Pongal gift: Ration card holders are joyful!!!
In tamil Nadu, with a view of celebrating the Thai pongal festival with much respect, the government will provide pongal gift packages to rice ration card holders through fair-price shops. And, along with it, cash will also be given.
But last time, the DMK government led by chief minister M.K.Stalin did not provide cash. Instead, a gift basket of 21 items was given, including rice, sugar, lentils, cashews, raisins, ghee, and sugarcane. While a cash payment was widely expected, only a pongal gift package was given.
There were various irregularities in the pongal gift package so distributed. Taking this issue into their hands, the opposition parties slammed the ruling DMK government. Following this, strict action was taken against the concerned company.
Meanwhile, the tamil Nadu government has decided to give 1,000 rupees to eligible ration card holders along with a pongal gift package including rice, sugar, and ghee, ahead of the upcoming pongal festival in 2023. The government planned to pay this amount directly into the bank account linked to the Aadhaar number of family card holders.
But, 'if given in the bank, the inhabitants of the villages would find it difficult to withdraw money; The rulers are of the opinion that the government will be welcomed by the people only if it is given in cash. Thus, the tamil Nadu government has decided to give cash to cardholders who do not have bank accounts, even though the work of opening bank accounts is going on in full swing, only for the coming pongal festival.
