How much the budget has changed since 1924?
Ever since narendra modi took over as the Prime minister, many old traditions have been abolished. Similarly, many changes have been made to the budget as well. Experts believe that there have been many benefits from these decisions. Earlier the budget was presented on the last day of the month i.e. on 28 or 29 February. But in the year 2017, the government started introducing it on february 1. Although many allegations were also levelled against the government during this period, the government started to present the budget soon, to get it passed by the parliament so that there is no shortage of money in any ministry in the new financial year. Let us know what changes were made by the Modi government:
Beginning of accounting in red cloth instead of a briefcase
In the first diwali worship where the government used to bring the new red colour ledgers in leather briefcases. At the same time, the government reached the parliament with a budget in the form of a ledger in red cloth. nirmala sitharaman had become the first Finance Minister.
Budget presentation date
Since the british era, the budget was presented on 28 February. However, this tradition was broken in the year 2017. In the year 2017, then Finance minister Arun Jaitley presented the budget on february 1. Due to this, budget allocation is done to the ministries on time. Due to this, the ministries are able to implement their schemes easily from the month of April.
Changes in the rail budget
Since the british era, the Railway Budget (Union Budget 2023) was presented separately. But this tradition, which has been going on since 1924, was changed by the Modi government in 2017. From 2017-18, the railway budget was merged with the general budget itself.
