In a statement released by the chennai police, chennai Metropolitan police Commissioner shankar Jiwal ordered a drive against drugs (DAD) to eliminate drugs including ganja and to completely eliminate tobacco products such as gutka and mawa banned by the tamil Nadu government. Action for Abolition of Goods'' (DABToP), special raids against counterfeit liquor and illegal sale of liquor are also being carried out and action is being taken against the culprits.
