In contrast to the 12,251 MW recorded on the same date last year, telangana saw its greatest peak demand of all time on Friday, reaching 14,361 MW during the Vanakalam season. The State had previously seen a peak demand of 15,497 mw on march 30, the highest in Telangana's recorded history.

In december of previous year, the demand for electricity increased to 14,000 MW shortly before the Yasangi season. Since the previous year, the State has consistently had peak demand of above 14,000 mw. Senior electricity authorities have meanwhile given engineers instructions to continually check and offer dependable power to farms.

The development of new industries and a rise in residential energy consumption are the major causes of the steadily rising demand for power. About 35% of the overall demand was met by customers in the agricultural sector, with the remaining 65% being met by consumers in the industrial and residential sectors. Officials from TS Transco promised consumers that they would always have access to power and that there would never be a shortage, even if peak demand exceeded 16,000 MW. According to the government, telangana is South India's second-highest electricity consumer after tamil Nadu.
