He has contested twice from the state of West bengal on behalf of the bjp in the 2016 assembly elections and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Chandrakumar Bose, who was appointed as West bengal bjp Vice President in 2016, was removed from the post in 2020. Earlier, in 2019, he was said to have been stripped of his post after he took a stand against the bjp on various issues including the Citizenship Amendment Act.

In the letter, he stated that he was leaving the party because the bjp central leadership and state leadership did not support him in propagating Netaji's policies. “I had presented a detailed proposal suggesting a bengal strategy to reach out to the people of the state. My proposals were ignored.” He also mentioned in his resignation letter. “When I joined the bjp, I was promised that I would be allowed to propagate the inclusive ideology of Netaji Subhash chandra bose and Sarath chandra bose (Netaji's elder brother - also a freedom fighter) across the country.
