Following an argument over excess raita (curd) on sunday night, the proprietor and workers of Meridian Restaurant in Punjagutta reportedly beat a client to death. On sunday around 11 p.m., the victim, Mohammad Liaqat, 31, a resident of Hashmatabad in Chandrayangutta, went to the restaurant with his companion for supper.
Liyaqat is accused of asking for raita at the hotel and the waiter reportedly ignored him, which sparked the brawl. When Liyaqat was allegedly attacked by the hotel manager and other employees, the situation worsened. He suffered serious wounds. Concerns have been voiced by the victim's family members over the police reaction. They claimed that Liyaqat's hospital admittance was not swiftly facilitated by the police. They further claimed that while the victim was fighting for his life, the cops behaved improperly.

In addition, Liyaqat's buddy said that they were brought from the hotel to the police station, where a sub-inspector allegedly beat the victim once again. He said that Liyaqat wasn't transferred to a nearby private hospital until his health had further worsened, at which point the hospital proclaimed him dead. Five people have been detained in connection with the event and a murder case has been filed, according to DCP South Zone Joel Davis, who also indicated that rumors of the police beating Liyaqat were unfounded.

The family members were given footage from the police station's closed-circuit cameras after an investigation, according to Davis. AIMIM MLC mirza Rahmath Baig met with top police officers after the tragedy and pleaded with them to make sure the victim's family received justice. An investigation into a murder has been opened at the Punjagutta police station. The defendant has been placed in detention.
