Swami Prabhupada’s journey of spreading the devotion of krishna to the masses has also been quite interesting.

According to ISKCON, Prabhupada had initially left Vrindavan to spread the message of Lord krishna in the

western countries. He had reached Boston with a truck full of books of Lord Krishna.

In the beginning it took a lot of time for him to convey the message of Shri krishna to the people, but then

people started paying attention to him. Gradually people started attending his lectures. Prabhupada lived in New

York until 1966, where he began lecturing on the Bhagavad Gita every week. With this he established ISKCON

in New York, America.

According to the organization, a large number of followers joined their mission between 1966 and 1968. After

this Sri Prabhupada established temples in cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Montreal

and New Mexico. Between 1969 and 1973, many temples were inaugurated in Canada, Europe, Mexico, Africa,

South America and India. An organization was also established in 1970 to oversee the development of ISKCON.

How is ISKCON run?

ISKCON Trust has no owner. In the year 1977, Srila Prabhupudana had established a group for its operation

which is known as Governing Body Commission. Its meeting is held every year in Mayapura, West Bengal.

Where the proposal is passed through voting. Every temple of ISKCON looks after its own affairs.
