Maharashtra: The Maharashtra State electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL), under the Ministry of Energy, government of maharashtra, has partnered with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO, to advance the Phase-2 development of a Web-Based Decision Support System (DSS). The MoU was signed to strengthen planning, monitoring, and operational efficiency of Maharashtra’s Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission network.
Key Highlights
Objective of the DSS
The Web-Based Decision Support System is designed to aid decision-making in the planning, maintenance, and monitoring of the state’s EHV transmission infrastructure.
It leverages satellite data, geospatial mapping, and predictive analytics to enhance grid reliability and efficiency.
Role of ISRO-NRSC
NRSC will provide advanced satellite imagery, geospatial analysis, and remote sensing expertise.
These technologies will help in identifying potential network bottlenecks, planning expansions, and preventing outages.
Benefits for MSETCL and Maharashtra
Improved real-time monitoring of transmission lines and substations.
Enhanced decision-making capabilities for maintenance and expansion planning.
Reduced operational risks and outages, leading to more reliable power supply.
Phase-2 Development
Builds upon Phase-1, which established the basic framework and data integration.
Phase-2 will focus on advanced analytics, predictive maintenance features, and user-friendly web interfaces.
Conclusion
The collaboration between MSETCL and ISRO-NRSC represents a significant step toward modernizing Maharashtra’s power transmission infrastructure using geospatial technology and decision support tools. By integrating satellite data and predictive analytics, the Web-Based DSS aims to enhance efficiency, reliability, and planning capabilities for the state’s EHV network.
