These include the dedication of a steel plant of NMTC Steel Company worth over Rs 23,800 crore at Nagarnar in Bastar district and several railway and road projects. He also flagged off the Darogi-Raipur electric train service. Highlighting the importance of steel in railway, road, airport, power projects, transport, housing for the poor and education and health institutions, the prime minister mentioned that the government has taken many steps to make the country self-sufficient in steel production in the last 9 years. Speaking at the inauguration of one of the most modern steel plants in Nagarnar, the prime minister said, "Chhattisgarh is reaping the benefits of being a major steel producing state". He said the steel produced at the plant would provide new impetus to the country's automotive, engineering and defense manufacturing sectors.


"Steel produced in Bastar will strengthen the military and boost defense exports," PM Modi said. He pointed out that it would provide employment opportunities to around 50,000 youth from Bastar and nearby areas. He further said, "The new steel plant will give fresh impetus to the central government's priority for the development of pioneer districts like Bastar."

Noting the central government's focus on transport, the prime minister talked about economic corridors and modern highways in Chhattisgarh. Compared to 2014, Chhattisgarh's railway budget has been increased by about 20 times. He said that Tararoki town will receive the gift of a new railway line many years after independence. He said that a new electric train has added Darogi to the country's railway map, making it easier to travel to the capital raipur, while the railway doubling project between Jagdalpur and Thandewada will reduce logistical costs and ease travel.


Speaking further, prime minister Modi said, “The prime minister expressed happiness that chhattisgarh has completed the work of 100% electrification of railways. Vande Bharat train is also running in the state. More than 30 railway stations of chhattisgarh are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat railway station Scheme, out of which foundation stone has already been laid for renovation of 7 stations. Along with Bilaspur, raipur and Durg stations, today Jagdalpur station is also included in this list. In the coming days, Jagdalpur station will become the main hub of the city. Also the passenger facilities here will be improved. In the last nine years, free Wi-Fi facility has been provided at more than 120 stations in the state.” said.


He said that the government is making all possible efforts to make life easier for the people of chhattisgarh and said that the current projects will increase the pace of development and create new employment opportunities. He assured that the state will continue its support to Chhattisgarh's development journey, encourage new industries in the state and play its role in changing the environment of the country.
