After discussing with the party chiefs and local leaders, the BRS party made an official statement announcing late mla Sayanna's daughter Nivedita as the candidate. It is known that the by-election was held in that seat after the death of mla lasya Nandita of Cantonment Constituency, who died in a road accident recently. Nivedita, daughter of late Cantonment mla G. Sayanna. In february 2023, Sayanna died while undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in secunderabad due to a kidney-related ailment.

Sayanna's daughter lasya Nandita was given the ticket by kcr during the telangana assembly elections held in november 2023. lasya Nandita won that election. But within three months of the release of election results, lasya Nandita lost her life in a road accident on ORR. BRS chief kcr announced Nivedita as the party's candidate in the Cantonment assembly constituency by-election. After discussing with party leaders and local leaders, late mla Sayanna's daughter Nivedita was announced as the candidate.
