Teachers to Lose Job: Illegal appointments.. 25,000 teachers who will lose their jobs. court takes action - why?

teachers to Lose Job: Many school teachers who are illegally employed by submitting blank OMR sheets have lost their jobs.

In a major setback to the mamata banerjee government, the calcutta high court has quashed the 2016 recruitment process for government-funded and aided schools. Further, the court ordered that 25,753 employees will lose their jobs and they will have to return the salary received since joining the job with 12% interest.

A division bench comprising Justices Debangsu Basak and MD Shabbar Rashidi ordered school teachers who were illegally recruited to submit blank OMR sheets in the examination conducted for teachers and return their salary within four weeks.

It is also noteworthy that the district Collectors have been tasked with collecting money from those teachers. The bench, set up on the supreme Court's order, further probed the appointment process and directed the cbi to submit a report within three months.

The bench also asked the West bengal school service Commission (WBSSC) to initiate a fresh appointment process. The state government is likely to approach the supreme court against the order. It is also worth noting that Trinamool leaders and former officials, including former state minister Partha Chatterjee, are in jail in the teacher appointment case.

"The high court has canceled around 24,000 SSC recruitments since 2016 and it is said that the cbi can take anyone into custody. In fact, this action by the judges has put a smile on the faces of the deserving. mamata will be defeated this time," the state bjp said.

In 2016, more than 23 lakh candidates had appeared for 24,640 vacant posts in the state-level examinations, while appointment letters were issued against 25,753 posts, the counsel for some of the petitioners said. This includes teachers of classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 and Group-C and D staff posts.
