Bains Brothers join hands with congress in Punjab…
Punjab Lok Insaaf Party's 'Bains Brothers' (Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains) joined congress on Sunday. congress has welcomed the decision of Bains brothers to join the party. In the statement issued by the party, it has been said that the merger of Lok Insaaf party with congress and the joining of Bains Brothers in the party will strengthen the congress in Punjab.
In the presence of rahul gandhi in New Delhi, the party's punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav inducted the Bains brothers into the Congress. Among the Bains brothers, Simarjeet is from Atam nagar and his elder brother Balwinder is a two-time former mla from ludhiana South assembly seat.
Political career ruined due to rape allegation
Simarjeet had contested from ludhiana in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had to face defeat from Ravneet Singh Bittu of Congress. His political career almost got ruined after an alleged rape case was registered in July 2021. The police had registered a case against him on the complaint of a 44-year-old woman. The woman had alleged that the former mla raped her several times in 2020 after he contacted her.
Police had arrested Simarjeet in July 2022 in the rape case. The court released him on bail after about six months. This matter is still pending before the court. Before their arrest in the rape case, Simarjeet and Balwinder had to face heavy defeat from aam aadmi party (AAP) candidates on their seats in the 2022 assembly elections.
