The objective of this policy is to promote the establishment of Global Capability Centers (GCC) in areas like IT, finance, human resources and customer support in the state.
It is worth noting that GCC i.e. Global Capability Centers are organizations that do technical work like data analysis, research and development (R&D), accounting, engineering support and customer care for big companies of the world from countries like India. Currently more than 16 lakh people are working in GCC in the country.
Establishment of GCC will prove to be a big tool for the government
The yogi government believes that the establishment of GCC in the state will not only promote IT and consulting sectors, but this policy will also prove to be a big means of providing jobs. The special thing is that these centers will also be opened in tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Meerut, Jhansi, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur. This will reduce the difference in income between rural and urban areas and will give impetus to balanced development.
According to the state government, in the last 5 years, an investment of ₹5.31 lakh crore has been made in Uttar Pradesh only on infrastructure. This is the largest capital investment made by any state in the country. This proves that UP is ready for investment.
At present, the highest number of GCCs in india are in the software and technology sector (38%), followed by BFSI i.e. banking, finance and insurance, telecom, auto, pharma, chemicals, semiconductors and medical equipment.
