On May 13, the very next day of his address, the shares of government companies manufacturing military equipment jumped tremendously. The Nifty india Defense Index jumped by about 4 percent to 7,416. Bharat Dynamics (BDL) shares were the biggest gainers, jumping 7 percent to 1,683.90. Bharat Dynamics is a private sector company, but it has received an order to make the akash missile system.

Similarly, shares of BEML, Bharat Electronics and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) saw a rise of 4.3 percent. Shares of Zen Technologies and Cochin Shipyard also rose by about 4 percent, while Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders jumped by 3.6 percent. Shares of GRSE also jumped by 3 percent while Paras Defense rose by 2.7 percent.

Defense minister Rajnath Singh has already said that defense exports will be increased to Rs 50,000 crore by 2029.
