shiv sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has reacted to the stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He said that last year we celebrated in a similar way in mumbai but due to better arrangements by mumbai police, no one got even a scratch. He held the police administration and government there responsible for the Bengaluru incident and demanded an investigation into it.
shiv sena leader Sanjay Nirupam said, "An accident took place at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium on wednesday (June 4) in which 11 people have lost their lives. Many people are injured. This is definitely the result of poor management. The government had taken the initiative in the celebration of RCB's victory. There was no initiative from bcci or IPL. So it was definitely the government's responsibility that people will come in large numbers and arrangements should be made to handle them."
The government should have estimated the crowd - Nirupam
He further said, "The way RCB won the IPL cup after many years, in fact for the first time, there was tremendous enthusiasm and excitement among the people of Bengaluru. The government should have estimated that if all the RCB players are called here and they are welcomed and honored and the victory is celebrated, then definitely a large number of people will come. There should have been police arrangements to deal with such a situation. There should have been barricading but unfortunately all these arrangements were not made, due to which the police had to face a lot of problems. Lathicharge had to be done and after that the incident happened.''
'There should be no irresponsible acts'
The shiv sena leader alleged that politicians were putting garlands around the necks of RCB players and somehow creating photos to shine their politics. Such irresponsible acts should not happen. I would like to remind these people that last year also we celebrated in a similar way in mumbai, that year about 10 times more people had come, but no one got even a scratch, because mumbai police had already anticipated this and made all kinds of arrangements.''
