IPL 2022: Highest-paid player for the new edition?
Before the mega auction of IPL, former punjab Kings captain KL rahul was given the power captainship by the lucknow franchise and signed for Rs 17crore, KL is in south africa these days and is leading the ODI team. Whereas, during a conversation with Star Sports, punjab Kings head coach Anil Kumble had said, "We tried our best to persuade KL Rahul. Everyone wanted him to stay with punjab Kings but he was not ready. He was adamant to be a part of the auction process for IPL 2022. KL had thanked punjab Kings on social media after player retention a few days ago and said – Have a wonderful journey, thank you for the love. Will fill it again at some point.
The lucknow franchise signed KL rahul for Rs 17 crore as captain, lucknow has also selected Marcus Stoinis and ravi Bishnoi. Stoinis has been signed for Rs 9.2 crore and ravi Bishnoi for Rs 4 crore.
The power of the ahmedabad team has been handed over to hardik Pandya. Both the franchises had stamped the names of both the captains by making an official announcement on friday night. KL rahul has scored 3273 runs in 94 matches at an average of more than 47. It will be interesting to see how successful KL is in getting the title by joining the new franchise.
