Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has expressed pride and satisfaction over the remarkable achievement of women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in tamil Nadu, whose products have collectively recorded sales worth 690 crore. He described the milestone as a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and self-reliance of women across the state.

He noted that sustained support in the form of training, financial assistance, marketing opportunities, and access to wider markets has enabled SHGs to grow into strong, sustainable enterprises.

The deputy chief minister highlighted that products manufactured by women’s self-help groups—ranging from food items, textiles, handicrafts, sanitary products, and household essentials—have gained widespread acceptance among consumers due to their quality and affordability. He added that government-backed platforms, exhibitions, fairs, and online marketing channels have played a crucial role in boosting sales.

Udhayanidhi stalin emphasized that the DMK government considers women’s empowerment a core development priority. He said that strengthening SHGs not only improves household incomes but also enhances women’s confidence, leadership skills, and decision-making power within families and communities.

He further stated that the government will continue to expand support mechanisms for self-help groups by improving access to credit, encouraging innovation, and opening new domestic and international markets for SHG products. Special focus, he said, will be given to rural and marginalized women to ensure inclusive growth.
