Cristiano Ronaldo's honesty helped to overturn a penalty awarded to him as his 10-man Al-Nassr team hung on to a 0-0 draw with Iran's Persepolis in the Asian Champions League on Monday. Ronaldo fell down in the area early on, and the referee pointed to the spot, but Ronaldo and Persepolis players challenged the decision. Referee Ma Ning reversed his ruling after checking the pitchside monitor.

In the first half, Al-Nassr defender ali Lajimi was sent off for a risky tackle on Milad Sarlak, while Ronaldo gave his saudi arabia squad a fright when he left with a neck injury. Al-Nassr, on the other hand, had already qualified for the knockout stages as the Group E victor and had gone undefeated. Riyadh entered the contest having won 18 of its previous 19 games in all competitions.

In the same group, Qatar's Al-Duhail won for the first time, defeating Tajikistan's Istiklol 2-0. Both goals were scored by Kenyan striker Michael Olunga. Earlier in Group C, Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo earned his first victory since being appointed by Al-Ittihad earlier this month, when the Saudi champion overcame AGMK of uzbekistan 2-1 to advance to the knockout rounds.

After Karim Benzema squandered opportunities, Moroccan attacker Abderrazak Hamdallah scored twice in four first-half minutes to give Al-Ittihad the lead. Martin Boakye scored for AGMK late in the game in Tashkent. "We had to work hard from the first whistle but we kept trying to get forward as much as we could and Hamdallah came good with two well-taken goals," he remarked. The top team from each of the tournament's ten groups of four, which are separated into two geographic halves until the final, progresses to the round of 16, along with the six best-placed runners-up.
