A new platform will soon be provided to the security and intelligence agencies, which will be technologically advanced, secure and helpful in dealing with new age criminals and anti-social elements. The new platform will have information on crimes and criminals and can be accessed on a real-time basis by police stations and various investigative agencies across the country, with the Intelligence Bureau playing the role of the nodal agency.



Union home minister amit shah took stock of the progress of work on the project at a high-level meeting of the Empowered Steering Group of police Technology on Tuesday, a home Ministry official said. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, director of Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar and other top officials of security agencies attended the meeting.



During the DGP conference held in lucknow last November, prime minister Narendra Modi had laid out the adoption of futuristic technologies in policing. In that meeting a high powered police Technology Mission was constituted under the chairmanship of the home Minister. The prime minister had supported the development of case studies to analyze incidents related to police and to create an institutionalized learning mechanism. For this, it was suggested to use technologies related to computer-based systems that benefit the police forces in India.




Another official said that Tuesday's meeting was attended by DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy, NTRO Chairman Anil Dhasmana, cbi director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, BSF director General Pankaj Singh, CRPF director General kuldeep Singh and delhi police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana. Others were involved.



100% FIR in 99 percent police stations

The central government already has a dedicated platform for registering all FIRs. Crime and criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) has been implemented in all 16,347 police stations in the country. Officials said that these days 100% FIRs are being registered in 99 percent of the police stations of the country. In addition, the Ministry of home Affairs has a National Database on sex Offenders (NDSO), where details and profiles of more than 10.69 lakh sex offenders in the country are available to law enforcement agencies on real time to investigate new crimes.




10 agencies of the country are connected with natgrid

The government has already prepared NATGRID, which has data related to all immigration entry and exit, banking and financial transactions, credit card purchases, telecommunications, individual tax payers, air travelers, train passengers among others. in order to obtain intelligence. In the first phase, 10 user agencies and 21 service providers are being linked to NATGRID.




10 agencies in the country which will be able to access NATGRID data on real time basis. These 10 agencies include: Intelligence Bureau (IB), research and analysis wing (RAW), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Central Direct Board of Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), Central Directorate General of Excise and Intelligence (DGCEC) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Initially, no state agencies will be given direct access to NATGRID data.
