David Warner, an Australian batsman, and Michael Slater, an Australian commentator, were allegedly embroiled in an ugly brawl in a maldives bar recently. The Australian players, support personnel, and pundits who were a part of the indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which was recently suspended, are reportedly quarantining in the Maldives. Due to a ban on flights from india, the Australian players and support staff have been living in the maldives, from where they can fly back to Australia.

Since IPL 2021 was suspended earlier this week due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the camp, the bcci had scheduled chartered flights for the Australians and other overseas players and workers to remain in the Maldives. Both Warner and Slater are now staying at the Taj Coral Resort in the tropical archipelago and will spend two weeks in quarantine before returning to Australia.

Waner and Slater were engaged in a heated argument and a physical confrontation at their hotel's bar, according to an article in The sunday Telegraph. Both, however, also refuted the allegations, claiming that nothing transpired between them. Though dismissing the rumours, Slater confirmed that he and Warner are "best friends." According to foxsports.com.au, Slater said on saturday, "There is absolutely little to the rumour mill... Davie and I are fantastic friends and absolutely zero chance of having a fight." Warner, too, dismissed rumours of a spat with Slater. "I'm not sure where you get these things. You can't write something until you've been here and have solid proof "he said.
