Before Bakrid in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti government of the state had ordered the closure of animal markets from june 3 to june 7. Now chief minister devendra fadnavis has announced that the government has withdrawn its decision and no animal markets will be closed.
In fact, the controversial letter sent by the State Gauseva Commission to the Agricultural Produce Market Committees regarding keeping the cow markets closed in the state between june 3 and june 8 in view of Bakrid is now being withdrawn. chief minister fadnavis had called a meeting to review the law and order of the state on the occasion of Bakrid at Sahyadri Guest House.
mla Raees Sheikh raised the issue
In this regard, mla Raees Sheikh said that the festival of Bakrid will be celebrated across the country on june 7. There is already a legal ban on cow slaughter in the state. But through a letter sent on May 27 in the name of cows, an illegal order was issued to close the cow markets of the state. This affected the availability of goats for Eid, which caused discontent in the Muslim community. This decision was taken in today's meeting.
The Gauseva Commission had imposed a ban
It is worth noting that the Gauseva Commission had issued a letter to all APMCs on tuesday (May 27), stating that animals are sacrificed on a large scale during the goat festival, so animal markets should not be organized in any village in the first week of june so that incidents of cattle slaughter can be prevented.
