On Friday, seven new telangana high court justices were sworn in. The new justices, including four women, were sworn in by Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Chief Justice of the telangana High Court. The swearing-in event was conducted on the grounds of the high court and was attended by judges, court officials, and attorneys.

The new judges were appointed by India's President on october 13th. Perugu sree Sudha, Gurijala Radha Rani, Chillakur Sumalatha, Munnuri Laxman, Addula Venkateshwara Reddy, Noonsavath Tukaramji, and Patlolla madhavi Devi are the names of the personas. With this, the number of high court justices, including the chief justice, has increased to 18. On october 11, Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was sworn in as Chief Justice.

The names of the seven judges were suggested by the telangana high court Collegium and forwarded to the supreme court under judicial quota in 2020. In August, the supreme court Collegium, led by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, granted its approval and sent the names to the Union government for examination and appointment as judges.

For almost two years, the telangana high court had only 13 judges since 11 other positions were empty. The bench strength of the telangana high court, which has over 2.3 lakh outstanding cases, was expanded from 24 to 42 justices in june of this year. The high court will still have 24 vacancies following the appointment of seven justices.
