Only an ambitious filmmaker could make a film like 'Marakkar: lion of the Arabian Sea.' It's written all over it that priyadarshan likes to dream big and execute even greater. The magnitude of the much-anticipated mohanlal film is noteworthy. In every way, it's a high-octane production. The big-budget multilingual is grand in scope and deeply emotional. It takes inspiration from history and employs a lot of imagination to weave narratives and sketch people. As a result, the film is a typical period drama with its fair share of highs and lows.

The film is set in 16th century Malabar and follows the narrative of Kunjali Marakkar IV, the admiral of the Samoothiri navy. priyadarshan creates his own Kunjali for the film because there isn't much to learn about him from history. Kunjali's story begins with a romance and ends in tragedy in Priyadarshan's realm of imagination. After that, it's all about his bravery. He is a genius, a savior, and a warrior, as are all great heroes. He has a posse of loyalists as well as foes. He has been duped several times. mohanlal plays the mature Kunjali, who is as rugged as the sea, whereas Pranav mohanlal portrays the lovely young Kunjali.

On the narrative side, priyadarshan and Ani Sasi's writing borrows heavily from traditional drama, with a mix of action and melodrama. It's more dramatic because of the long stretches and soaring speech. Priyadarshan's undeniable visual sensibility is on display in Marakkar as well. It's a visual pleasure thanks to Tirru's gorgeous cinematography, Sabu Cyril's exuberance in production design, and siddharth Priyadarshan's expertise in visual effects. However, the polish that one might expect from a seasoned director is occasionally lacking, particularly during stunts.

With a three-hour runtime, Marakkar covers a lot of ground in Malabar's history, with a major plot centered on Marakkar's battle against the Portuguese and a subplot centered on a romance between his Chinese loyalist Chinali (Jay J Jakkrit) and Aarcha, a royal girl (Keerthy Suresh). With plenty of action and just the perfect amount of emotion, mohanlal keeps his fans entertained.  Apart from Keerthy Suresh, manju warrier plays a significant role, while suhasini and priyadarshan -Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>kalyani priyadarshan appear in barely a few scenes. With five songs and a characteristic background score, the picture boasts a fascinating musical soundtrack. They don't sound anything like the old priyadarshan movies, though.

Overall, The movie is Big in terms of Grandeur and Story-Telling, but definitely not the Best..!
