TN: State records fourth death from Swine Flu...

On september 3, 2023, a 44-year-old shopkeeper in Vaniyambadi, Tirupathur district, passed away from the H1N1 influenza virus, becoming tamil Nadu's fourth case of swine flu death in 2023. S ravikumar, a patient at Chennai's rajiv gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), was being treated. He lived on Pillayar Koil Street in Vaniyambadi town. Doctors claim that ravikumar had a number of complications and comorbidities when he was admitted, and that these contributed to his death in addition to the swine flu.
Ravikumar spent eight days in a private hospital before being transferred to the RGGGH, claims E Theranirajan, Dean of the RGGGH. He had liver disease that was thought to be cryptogenic. These patients' immune systems are weak. A swab test was performed when he was admitted to see if the patient had viral pneumonia. The H1N1 virus was detected by the test, the dean reported.
The Dean further clarified that there was no swine flu outbreak and that this particular patient had been admitted to RGGGH on august 31. He required ventilator support while receiving care at the private hospital. The patient was sent here after experiencing additional complications, the doctor said. Officials from the health Department insisted that precautions are being taken. They claim that around 5,000 Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate tablets) are being distributed in the Vaniyambadi town region. The deceased's family, friends, and neighbours were also screened.
