Shah Rukh Khan is taking a sabbatical in 2024 as an actor after dominating the box office in 2023. However, his production firm, red Chilies Entertainment continues to release intriguing films. The movie "Bhakshak," starring Bhumi Pednekar, is their first release of the year. The muzaffarpur Shelter home Rape Case, in which a politician and others received sentences for abusing girls, is the basis for the film "Bhakshak." The film centers on the misery of the residents of the shelter house.

"Bhakshak," written and directed by Pulkit and Jyotsana Nath, is maybe too lighthearted for a film dealing with such a serious subject. While some components function effectively, others might have been improved. Although it conveys the message, it doesn't accomplish anything novel. For serious moviegoers, certain scenes may seem overly apparent. Although the film does a good job of depicting the horrors of the shelter house, there is a sense that it might have been stronger. It may have been stronger with a more direct approach, even though everything isn't shown clearly.

The movie has wonderful intentions, and Bhumi, Sanjay Mishra, and Aditya Shrivastava—who plays the frightening villain—all perform excellently. The speech at the end provides a satisfactory resolution. "Bhakshak" may not be groundbreaking, and the second part drags on, but it has the power to increase empathy and awareness for victims of abuse. It makes viewers consider the situation of abuse victims and could perhaps motivate them to take small-scale action. For its intended use, "Bhakshak" is a respectable one-time watch overall. "Bhakshak" is available on Netflix.
