Is OYO's new policy against privacy rights?

On january 5, 2024, oyo company has made some changes in its check-in rules. After which the difficulties in booking and using hotel rooms for unmarried couples may increase further. Actually, Oyo company has implemented a new policy, under which unmarried couples will not be allowed to stay in hotels associated with oyo company.

Under this new rule, the couple will need to show 'valid proof of relationship' while checking in. Although initially this policy will be applicable only in meerut, Uttar Pradesh, but according to reports, oyo may soon implement it in other cities as well.

After this new rule of the company, the question is arising whether through this policy, oyo is violating fundamental rights like privacy and freedom? Especially when the indian Supreme Court has recently secured the right of individuals to enter into unmarried relationships. In this new controversy, the protection of the rights to privacy, dignity and autonomy is being questioned.

Know in detail about Oyo's new policy

Behind this move, oyo argued that this decision has been taken on the demand of civil society and some organizations, who believe that traditional and cultural sensibilities should be respected in the society.

This policy will first be implemented in meerut city of Uttar Pradesh, but according to reports, oyo is planning to implement it in other cities in the future. After this move, unmarried couples may face a lot of difficulties in using hotel services, which may affect their privacy and freedom.
