Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has passed away at the age of 88. The Vatican tv channel has released an official announcement in this regard. "At 7:35 this morning, Bishop Francis of Rome returned to his father's house. His entire life was dedicated to the service of god and his Church," said the announcement issued by Vatican Camerlengo Cardinal Kevin Ferrell.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected Pope Francis in 2013. He was the first Jesuit pope, the first pope from the Americas, and the first non-European pope to be elected in 1,200 years. Known for his progressive views and support for the poor and oppressed, Pope Francis has been hailed as a transformational leader within and beyond the Catholic Church, bringing about reforms in the Vatican.
A warm-hearted man:
During his more than a decade-long pontificate, he has championed interfaith dialogue. He took strong positions on climate change action. He advocated for the rights of refugees and migrants. Despite facing opposition from conservatives within the Church, he was a man of compassion and love for all. Following the Pope's death, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, who serves as camerlengo, will take over the affairs of the Church.

World leaders, religious leaders, and millions of Catholics are expected to pay their respects to the Pope. Funeral arrangements are underway to honor the Pope. The Vatican will release official information about this soon.
