It was a sunday night in the upscale Bengaluru neighborhood of 14th Cross Road in HSR Layout.  The streets were a little busy, and the sun had set.  However, Om Prakash's opulent three-story home was silent.  Blood screams were being muffled by a hush.  In his own drawing room, 68-year-old retired DGP Om Prakash, the former head of the karnataka police, lay in a pool of blood.  A kitchen knife was lying nearby, dripping blood, and he had twelve knife cuts on his chest and stomach.  This scene depicted a vicious scheme.

One phone call and a shocking revelation
The Bengaluru police control room received a call at approximately 4:30 p.m.  They reported the incident.  A police car from Hoysala hurried to 14th Cross right away.  However, the door was locked when the cops arrived at their residence.  Although they were inside, Pallavi and her daughter Krithi were not prepared to open the door.  The door had to be broken by the police.

It was a terrible scene inside the house.  The body of Om Prakash lay in the ground floor drawing room.  The floor was covered in a large pool of blood.  A plate of food was cooling on the adjacent dining table, like a story left unfinished.  Pallavi and Krithi were trapped in a room, and the cops were watching them intently.  After both were placed under arrest, an investigation that rocked karnataka as a whole got underway.

Om Prakash, the former DGP of karnataka, was killed in Bengaluru.

• The retired IPS officer, 68, was discovered dead and covered in blood.
• The chest and stomach have many knife incisions.
• Pallavi reported the murder to the police over the phone.
• Before the murder, Pallavi told her friend "I have killed the demon".
• One potential motive for the murder is a property dispute.
• Born in Champaran, Bihar, Om Prakash was an IPS member from the 1981 batch.

Brutal murder of a dynamic officer
Om Prakash, an IPS officer from the 1981 batch, was from Champaran in Bihar.  With an MSc in Geology, Om Prakash began his career in the ballari region as an Additional Superintendent of Police.  Shimoga, Uttara Kannada, and Chikkamagaluru were among the districts where he served as Superintendent of Police.  As DIG of the Lokayukta, fire Services, and criminal Investigation Department (CID), he made a lasting impression.  In 2015, he was appointed DGP of karnataka, and in 2017, he retired.

He was crucial to the investigation of the 2014 Church Street explosion and the 2013 Bangalore bombing of the bjp headquarters. However, his post-retirement life was not as tranquil as it seemed.  Sources claim that Om Prakash had warned his close pals that his life was in jeopardy. Whose?  The focus of the study was now this question.

What has come to light so far in the police investigation?
Pallavi was the main suspect in the first police investigation.  Following the murder, Pallavi reportedly called the widow of another former IPS officer and said, startlingly, "I killed that monster."  This "monster" was actually Om Prakash, her husband.  Pallavi then called 112 to alert the police.  However, Pallavi and Kriti refused to answer the door when the police arrived at their residence.  This behavior was deemed suspicious by the police.

From the scene, police found a container of chilli powder and a knife. Although the authorities are still looking into it, Pallavi's mental health has come under scrutiny. No evidence of forced entry into the house has been discovered by the police.

Was Pallavi mentally disturbed?
When Pallavi was questioned, it became clear that she had mental health problems.  According to some accounts, she frequently received treatment in mental health facilities for a disorder that resembled schizophrenia.  Pallavi's report was not filed, so a few months ago, she staged a sit-in outside the HSR Layout police station, which the police discovered.  But what had she complained about?  It was still a mystery.

The police considered Kriti, who was there in the residence when the crime occurred, to be the second suspect.  According to Pallavi, Kriti was confined to a different room at the time of the murder.  However, the police were looking into if this assertion was true.  Was Kriti helping her mom?  Was she merely a witness, though?  The police questioned both of them for around 12 hours in order to get answers to these queries.

Property Dispute or something else?
The property dispute has turned out to be a crucial clue in the police inquiry.  Om Prakash reportedly desired to give his son karthik ownership of all of his belongings.  Pallavi was not happy about this choice.  According to some stories, Om Prakash and Pallavi got into a furious disagreement about this matter prior to the murder.  Was Pallavi's spouse slain because of this intense argument?

The cops, however, were taking everything into account.  Vikas Kumar Vikas, Additional Commissioner of police (West), stated: "We have discovered a sharp object that could have been used to carry out the murder.  After the postmortem report, more information will become clear.  Suspicion that the crime was committed inside the house was increased when the police disclosed that they had not discovered any indications of a forced enter.

A Story of Blood and Silence
Two knives and a bottle that may have contained chilli powder were found at the site by the police.  It seems that Om Prakash was rendered defenseless when the assailant initially put chilli powder in his face.  Then he was repeatedly stabbed," a crime scene investigator stated.  In addition to one severe incision on his neck, Om Prakash had about twelve more wounds on his abdomen and neck.  The violence suggested intense anger.

The house had an enigmatic vibe as well.  As though a typical day had abruptly descended into catastrophe, the food on the dining table was undamaged.  The police were perplexed by Pallavi's composed demeanor when she sat on a chair next her deceased spouse.

Was it mental instability, or part of a well-planned crime?
"This is a sad incident," stated karnataka home minister G. Parameshwar, expressing sorrow over the incident.  Pallavi is suspected in the initial investigation, but we will uncover the real truth."  The state of Karnataka's law and order was also called into question by this murder.  "When a former DGP is not safe in his own house, what will happen to the common man?" was a question that many people posted on social media.

Son has lodged a complaint
Based on a complaint by karthik, the son of Om Prakash, the police have filed a murder case against Pallavi and Kriti.  Karthik asserted that his mother committed the act because she was mentally ill.  To confirm this accusation, however, the authorities are looking into Pallavi's medical records.  Was there a larger plot behind the murder, or was it the product of a property dispute?  Was Kriti complicit in this act, or did Pallavi do it alone?  The most important question was if Om Prakash was indeed in danger from his wife, as he had claimed to his friends.

These questions are currently the focus of Bengaluru Police's inquiry.  One thing is certain, though: a vicious murder is currently taking place in the bungalow at 14th Cross, which was previously Om Prakash's safe haven.  And there is much more to this tale.
