Since displacing A Minecraft movie as the top film when it opened in theaters last weekend, Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, has been performing better than expected at the box office and is now on course to become a true box office blockbuster.

With an additional $23 million since Monday, the domestic total for the film was $71.5 million through Wednesday, and it is currently getting close to $87 million.  By Monday, it should surpass the $100 million mark.

Michael B. jordan plays identical twin brothers in this period vampire tale, which recently surpassed jordan Peele's Nope to have the greatest domestic opening weekend of an original movie of the decade.

Analysts predict that Sinners will continue to dominate the box office for the next few weeks at least, despite competition from action sequel The Accountant 2 and video game horror film Until Dawn. This is a fantastic result for an R-rated film with a reported production budget of $90 million.

To make a profit, the movie must surpass the $200 million mark, although this shouldn't be too tough. Following a successful marketing effort and extraordinarily positive reviews (98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), Sinners received an A CinemaScore from viewers.
