Until Dawn opened with a 63% Rotten Tomatoes score when the review embargo was released.  However, as more reviews have begun to surface, it has now fallen to 62%.  Numerous critics have referred to the film as "Cabin in the Woods meets Groundhog Day with a horror twist," praising it for its ability to play with various forms of terror and for successfully capturing the essence of the game.  But as the story goes on, the storyline becomes less compelling.

What is 'Until Dawn' about?
A group of people must escape a Blackwood Mountain lodge in the interactive drama Until Dawn, which was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4. Since the players' objective is to keep everyone alive while making snap judgments, the game has several endings depending on their choices.

However, the movie takes a slightly different approach.  Although it makes an effort to preserve the essence of the game, Sandberg and screenwriter Blair Butler disclose that a 10-hour experience cannot be condensed into a 2-hour film.  Instead of re-creating the game beat-by-beat, it views it as a chance to "create a love letter to horror movies," and the time-resetting plot captures the desire to restart the game.

After Clover's sister goes missing, a new set cast in the movie Until Dawn heads to a secluded valley to find answers.  After that, the party investigates an abandoned visitor center where they are stranded and have to relive the terrifying experience of being hunted and killed.  The group must live till morning.  They discover they have a finite number of deaths, though, and every reset introduces a new hazard.
