Two people, including a 31-year-old woman, were reportedly arrested by punjab police on sunday for allegedly participating in espionage activities connected to a pakistan High Commission official in New Delhi.

Gaurav Yadav, director General of police (DGP), punjab, provided additional details on the case, stating that Guzala and Yameen Mohamad, both Malerkotla district residents, were the people who were taken into custody. Additionally, two cell phones have been found in their possession by police teams.

The development occurred just days after two individuals, Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, were taken into custody by amritsar police on suspicion of providing Pakistan's intelligence agency with private information and images of army cantonment locations and air bases.

According to DGP Yadav, initial inquiry has shown that the accused individuals who were arrested had been paid online for disclosing sensitive material. According to him, they communicated with the handler on a regular basis and helped transfer money to other local agents at his direction.

According to the DGP, this operation demonstrates our dedication to national security and represents a major step in breaking up cross-border espionage networks.  He stated that more research will be done in accordance with established procedures, with an emphasis on following the cash trail and finding more agents and connections inside the network.

Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Malerkotla Gagan Ajit Singh shared the specifics of the operation, stating that Guzala was arrested for giving a handler stationed in pakistan crucial information about indian army movements based on intelligence inputs. According to him, a second conduit, known as Yameen Mohamad, was also located and arrested based on the revelations she made during questioning.

According to the SSP, the FIR also names and nominates the accused official.
