In a significant step toward empowering persons with disabilities, tamil Nadu health minister Ma. Subramanian distributed petrol scooters and various assistive devices worth ₹59 lakh at a special event held on Wednesday.
The initiative aims to enhance mobility, independence, and overall quality of life for individuals with physical challenges. As part of the distribution drive, beneficiaries received modified petrol scooters designed to accommodate their mobility needs, along with essential assistive tools such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, crutches, and walking sticks.
Addressing the gathering, minister Subramanian emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting differently-abled citizens through welfare schemes and inclusive development programs. He noted that access to mobility equipment not only improves day-to-day living but also opens up opportunities for education, employment, and social participation.
The event witnessed the participation of local officials, healthcare workers, and community members who praised the initiative for its positive impact. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, stating that the equipment would greatly help them move around more freely and pursue their goals with confidence.
The distribution program is part of the state’s continuous efforts to strengthen social welfare measures and ensure that people with disabilities receive the support they need for a dignified and independent life.
