Ten years ago today, following the historic victory of the bharatiya janata party in the 2014 lok sabha elections, narendra Damodardas Modi took the oath of office as India's fifteenth prime minister. prime minister Modi was sworn in as India's fifteenth prime minister on May 26, 2014. In a lavish ceremony conducted in Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt, he took the oath of office.
 
The swearing-in of Modi signaled a significant change in indian national politics and put an end to the indian National Congress's ten-year rule. The 63-year-old narendra modi took the oath in hindi while wearing his signature kurta and waistcoat and carrying a pen that was neatly clipped into his pocket.  PM Modi became the first indian prime minister to be born after independence as a result.


The bharatiya janata party won a broad mandate in the 2014 elections, which led to Modi's swearing-in.  On its own, the bjp secured 282 seats, a massive mandate not seen since 1984.  With only 44 seats, the congress was in a tight spot while the NDA's number increased to 336.  The attendance of South Asian nations, such as afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Sri Lankan Mahinda Rajapaksha, and Pakistan's then-Prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was the main event of PM Modi's swearing-in in 2014. 

After taking office, PM Modi implemented the'minimum government, maximum governance' agenda, appointing a 'leaner' cabinet than the departing UPA government, which had more than 75 ministers.  PM Modi chose a group of 45 ministers, including 12 ministers of state, 10 ministers of state with independent charge, and 23 cabinet ministers.
