Gulermak, a Turkish company that was working on the underground portion of a kanpur metro project, left the city with Rs 80 crore in unpaid debt. Following demonstrations against Turkey's involvement in the India-Pakistan war, the corporation postponed payments to 53 contractors, who had not received payment in around ten months.

The top executives of this Turkish corporation have all left the city, according to the contractors.  They claimed that when called on the phone, they dodged the subject and provided vague responses.

Officers of the Uttar Pradesh Metro rail Corporation (UPMRC) were notified about the complaint, but nothing was done about it.  Nine contractors then went to the office of the district Magistrate (DM) and filed a formal complaint.

The contractors claim that the payment was postponed due to nationwide demonstrations against Turkey's involvement in the Indo-Pak conflict. A joint venture between the Turkish construction company Gulermak and the indian company sam india completed the job.  53 sublease firms were given employment by the company.  The business completed the task, but instead of paying the full amount due, it made little payments.

Representatives from nine of the 53 contractors that constructed the subterranean station's section visited the DM office on monday and turned up a memorandum.

They demanded the release of the following: Rs 74.80 lakh for S Interior; Rs 8.54 lakh for Vinod Gupta Enterprises; Rs 29.50 lakh for Nandan Prefab; Rs 21.50 lakh for Shri balaji Enterprises; Rs 3.70 crore for Metro Marble; Rs 1.20 crore for Radiant Services; Rs 1.70 crore for Shreyans Infratech; and Rs 74.80 lakh for S Interior.

According to contractor Gajendra Singh of Radiant Firm, just 50% of the enterprises have received money thus far.

Gulermak has finished the work on four stations of Corridor One in kanpur with a joint venture, according to Panchanan Mishra, Joint General Manager (Public Relations), UPMRC, who spoke to india today. Gulermak received full payment from the metro once they took control of the stations. These contractors are the business's sublease.

Additionally, he mentioned that the Metro in reserve has a 5% payment of the total contract value that is due after a year; however, the Metro must release this payment if the corporation fails to pay the contractors.

India Herald attempted to contact Gulermak for comment, however, the majority of calls were not returned.
