Those who chose not to see the film in theaters or who might want to give it another chance can now see sam Wilson's first big-screen appearance as the Sentinel of Liberty from the comfort of their sofa thanks to Disney+'s streaming service for Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World.  In addition to being a much-needed boost to Marvel/Disney's movie income, Deadpool and Wolverine were highly received by both reviewers and fans.  Regretfully, Brave New World failed to maintain the momentum.

To be fair, the film did surpass $400 million worldwide, which wasn't always expected, but this still has to be viewed as a disappointing outcome given that the budget reportedly skyrocketed to over $200 million after extended reshoots (not including marketing expenses). Based on 342 reviews, the fourth Captain America film presently has a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting the mixed-to-negative critical reception.

There are individuals who support Brave New World, but it's definitely safe to say that the film hasn't connected with Marvel fans the way those who worked on its production would have hoped.  Rob Edwards, one of the film's six credited writers, was asked if he was shocked by the reviews in an interview with The Direct at WonderCon in March.

"I sort of did and kind of didn't.  Similar things, I believe, have occurred... with several projects.  I thought it was strange because I told some of my critic pals, "I think you guys missed it."  I believe you people made a mistake.
