It was announced late last year that Lee Cronin, the director of a forthcoming Blumhouse/Atomic Monster film, will be bringing The Mummy back to life. The director of Evil Dead Rise has now declared that primary photography is officially over. Additionally, Cronin posted the first behind-the-scenes image from the film's set. It shows us the official logo of the project on the back of a director's chair, but it's not very revealing.

Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Veronica Falcón, May Calamawy, and May Elghety are all scheduled to appear in the Mummy reboot.

They have not revealed any information about the characters they will portray.

Following the triumph of his gruesomely exciting Evil Dead Rise resurrection (see our review here), Cronin was revealed as the director of an unnamed horror film that would be released on april 17, 2026.  Later, Warner Bros., Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster disclosed that it would be a fresh interpretation of the iconic Universal Monster.

Cronin wrote the script as well.

"This will not be like any Mummy movie you have ever seen.  In a statement, Cronin added, "I'm going deep into the ground to raise something very ancient and very frightening."

James Wan, Jason Blum, and john Keville are producing the movie, which is being co-financed by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.  Executive producers include Macdara Kelleher, Judson Scott, and Michael Clear.  The executive in charge of Atomic Monster's project is Alayna Glasthal.
