A comparable fort, called Murud Janjira fort, is situated in the seaside village of Murud in Maharashtra's Raigad district. This fort's unique feature is that it was constructed in the middle of the Arabian sea, 90 feet above sea level.
Why is Murud Janjira fort special?
The only fort on India's west coast that is impregnable is Murud Janjira Fort. It is stated that despite their best efforts, the British, Portuguese, Mughals, shivaji Maharaj, Kanhoji Angre, Chimaji Appa, and Sambhaji Maharaj were unable to take this fort. 'Invincible Fort' is the name given to this 350-year-old fort for this reason.
Because the Murud-Janjira fort's door is built behind the walls, it becomes invisible as you approach the fort from a few meters away. It is stated that this must have been the cause of the adversaries' frequent deceptions, even after approaching the fort, which prevented them from entering.
When was Murud Janjira fort built?
Malik Ambar of the Ahmednagar Sultanate oversaw the construction of this fort in the fifteenth century. It was reportedly constructed in 22 years. There are 22 security stations at this 22-acre fort. Every guard post still has a number of Siddiqui ruler cannons, including this one.
The walls of this fort are forty feet high. This fort is thought to be protected by Panch Peer Panjatan Shah Baba. This fort also houses the mausoleum of Shah Baba. This fort contains a lake with delicious water. Sweet water comes here even though it's in the heart of the sea's salty water. It is still unknown where this wonderful water originates.
