Proposal of exemption to Chinese companies
To promote foreign direct investment, now niti aayog has proposed to relax those rules, due to which till now Chinese companies needed extra strict scrutiny for investing in India. niti aayog believes that this step will benefit some big companies doing business in the country, because earlier due to strict rules, some big deals were delayed in getting filed.
According to the news of business Standard, Chinese companies currently need security approval from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of home Affairs to do business in India. The report states that a proposal has been made by niti aayog that any Chinese company can take up to 24 percent stake in any company in india without approval.
Steps aimed at increasing FDI
Such a proposal has been made by niti aayog with the aim of promoting foreign direct investment. The Prime Minister's office as well as the Department of industry of the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of External Affairs and the Finance Department are currently deliberating on this proposal of the government's think tank.
