Pune police has filed an application in the Sessions court demanding trial of the minor accused of the porsche car accident as an adult. Earlier, the Juvenile Justice Board had rejected the police's application, saying that the case was not a heinous crime.

Pune police has filed an application in the Sessions court demanding trial of the minor accused of the porsche car accident as an adult. Earlier, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) had rejected this demand of the police and said that this crime does not fall in the category of heinous crime. This case is related to the road accident that took place in May 2024, in which two youths died.

Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray said that an application has been filed in the Sessions court on August 7, and the date of the hearing will be decided soon. The police say that the decision of the JJB is legally wrong and, considering the seriousness of the accident, the trial of the accused should be done as an adult. Earlier, the JJB had rejected the application of the police, saying that the case does not fall under the definition of a heinous crime.

The accident took place on the night of 19 May 2024 in kalyani Nagar, pune, when the 17-year-old accused hit a bike with his porsche car. ashwini Koshta and Anish Awasthi, residents of Madhya Pradesh, died in this accident. The accused was arrested, but soon the JJB granted him bail, which led to a lot of controversy. It is alleged that the minor was served alcohol in a restaurant.

After the accident, the parents and doctors of the accused were accused of changing the blood samples. It is claimed that the doctors replaced the blood sample of the accused with his mother's sample. In this case, the mother of the accused was granted interim bail by the supreme court in April, while the father and the doctor are still in jail. The police have registered a case in this case on charges of destruction of evidence and conspiracy.

Last year, pune police had filed a supplementary report before the JJB and imposed additional sections of destruction of evidence on the minor. Earlier, the police had registered a case of culpable homicide against him. Now the session court will decide whether the accused will be tried as a minor or as an adult.
