Heavy rainfall hit mumbai in the early hours of Saturday, resulting in significant waterlogging across various areas. The india Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red Alert' for the city, indicating severe weather conditions.


According to reports from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), two fatalities have been confirmed, with two others injured due to a landslide in the Jankalyan Society area of Vikhroli Park Site. In light of the adverse weather, the BMC has urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.


Visuals from the city reveal extensive waterlogging, especially in the Milan Subway area, SCLR Bridge, Kings Circle, and gandhi Market.


In related weather news, heavy rains have also plagued himachal pradesh, leading to 257 reported deaths since the monsoon began on june 20. Among these, 133 fatalities were linked to rain-related incidents, while 124 were due to road accidents, as reported by the himachal pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA). The Mandi district recorded the highest number of rain-related deaths at 26, followed by kangra (28), Chamba (10), and Kullu (11).


Road accidents have been particularly prevalent this season, with districts like kangra, Kinnaur, Mandi, shimla, and Chamba reporting numerous incidents attributed to slippery roads and poor visibility.


Additionally, power supply has faced significant disruptions, affecting 681 Distribution Transformers (DTRs), with Kullu and shimla being the worst-hit areas. Disruptions are primarily due to flash floods, damaged lines, and downed trees. The ongoing rains continue to pose challenges for both urban and rural areas, highlighting the urgent need for safety precautions and emergency measures.
