In a pioneering move to enhance the experience of indian students in the UK, the university of east London (UEL) and the National indian students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU) have forged a landmark partnership. This collaboration aims to create a comprehensive support system addressing the welfare, employability, and overall success of indian students throughout their academic journey.

On october 17, 2025, UEL and NISAU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at UEL’s Stratford campus. The agreement establishes a strategic framework to deliver inclusive initiatives and provide practical support to students, from pre-arrival through to post-graduation. This partnership is designed to serve as a model for best practices in international student engagement, particularly for indian students in the UK.

2. Comprehensive Support from Pre-Arrival to Post-Graduation

The collaboration focuses on offering holistic support to indian students, encompassing:

Pre-arrival Guidance: Assistance with visa processes, accommodation arrangements, and cultural orientation.

Academic and Social Integration: Programs to help students adapt to the UK education system and integrate into the campus community.

Career Development: Access to internships, mentorships, and networking opportunities with industry leaders.

Post-Graduation Support: Resources to aid in job placement and career advancement.

This comprehensive approach ensures that students receive continuous support throughout their academic journey.

Aligned with the India-UK Vision 2035, this partnership aims to strengthen the people-to-people ties between the two nations. By focusing on education and skills development, the collaboration contributes to the shared goal of inclusive, future-focused education.

4. A Model for Global Student Engagement

This initiative sets a new benchmark for global student engagement and international collaboration. By combining NISAU’s advocacy and networks with UEL’s student-centered ethos and careers-first focus, the partnership provides valuable lessons for universities worldwide on how to champion international learners and celebrate their contributions.
