The election commission of india (ECI) has released the draft electoral rolls for the state of bihar as part of the recently concluded Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls. This key development marks a crucial phase in preparations for upcoming elections, allowing citizens to verify and update their details on the voter list.

The draft rolls, which were published on august 1, include updated information after a thorough verification and correction drive conducted by electoral officials across the state. The SSR process, which began earlier this year, included door-to-door verification, deletion of duplicate or deceased entries, inclusion of new voters, and updating addresses and other personal information.

According to sources within the ECI, this draft list is now open for public scrutiny. Voters in bihar can access the rolls at their respective polling station locations, on official government notice boards, and through the state’s Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) website.

Eligible citizens who turned 18 on or before the qualifying date—January 1, 2025—have been encouraged to check for their names and submit claims or objections by the prescribed deadline. The window for submitting such requests is expected to remain open for several weeks before the final list is published.

Officials have urged the public to actively participate in the verification process to ensure accuracy and prevent errors. Special camps and help centers have been set up across bihar to assist voters in submitting corrections and new applications.

The final electoral roll is slated for release after the ECI processes all claims and objections. With the next general election approaching, the ECI is emphasizing transparency, inclusivity, and error-free electoral records to uphold democratic integrity.
