Nandamuri Tharaka Rama Rao garu film career started by signing him with an amount of Rs.1, 116 for ‘Palleturi Pilla’ film by producer B.A. Subba Rao in 1949. But his first release was ‘ Mana Desam’ & then ‘Shavukar and the list ends with ‘ Brahmarishi Vishwamitra’ movie.
In his 44 years of film career, Rama Rao had acted in about 297 films, out of which 280 are Telugu, 15 Tamil and 4 Hindi films. 44 of his films were mythological, 13 were historical, 55 fictional and 185 films were social In time period of 1950 to 1955.
NTR was paid Rs. 500 per month & Rs. 5000 as his film remuneration. After huge success of ‘Lava Kusa’ he was paid Rs. 7500 per film with monthly salary of Rs. 1000. Till 1970’s his remuneration was about 1 lakh to 5 lakhs per film but from 1972 it increased one lakh for film and reached around 7 lakhs.
