In a series of messages in 2021, Buffy alum Charismaa Carpenter claimed that Wheddon had been verbally and emotionally violent to many of the female cast and crew members of Buffy and its spin-off show, Angel. Carpenter's accusations prompted many others from throughout Whedon's productions to come forward in support of Carpenter and to describe their own comparable experiences working with the writer/director over the seasons. New stories continue to emerge, including Whedon's work conduct on Justice League movie.
