When their performing organisation originally issued out a statement suggesting that tamil actors alone should act in kollywood films, the kollywood film industry garnered controversy. However, some organisation members afterwards came out to clarify that they genuinely do not intend that and that it is simply for the technicians. The association's president, rk Selvamani, has since sparked another issue by drawing attention to the lack of tamil names for locally made films.

The names of the most recent releases, according to Selvamani, are "DD Returns," "LGM," "Love," "Terror," "Dinosaurs," and "Pizza-2," and they are all in the english language. He thinks it would be very helpful if a resolution encouraging the usage of tamil names for tamil films were passed. He says that if this advise is followed, the industry may change for the better.

The continued promotion of english film titles by individuals who take pride in tamil culture and language is still perplexing. Among language aficionados, the discrepancy between their words and deeds is a major source of great discontent and agony. In view of this circumstance, the tamil Producers' Council recently made a plea to chief minister Stalin, asking for a government subsidy for films that proudly bore tamil names.
