It is said that as the lok sabha elections are going to be held in tamil Nadu on april 19 this year, it is said that there is no chance of releasing new films on the eve of tamil New Year on april 14.
Election Commission of india announced the date of 2024 lok sabha yesterday. Accordingly, elections will be held in 7 phases from april 19 to June. As far as tamil Nadu is concerned, the election is going to be held in the first phase itself i.e. on april 19 itself.
As far as tamil cinema releases are concerned, tamil New Year's Day is the most important release date after diwali and Pongal. As summer vacations begin for schools, more films will be released on the eve of the tamil New Year. But as the lok sabha elections are going to be held in tamil Nadu on april 19 this year, it is said that new films are not likely to be released on the eve of tamil New Year on april 14.
It is also said that new films may be released on april 26, a week after the election. However, the neighboring states of kerala, karnataka and Andhra, where tamil films are doing well, are also going to have elections in the following weeks. lok sabha elections will be held in one phase on april 26 in kerala and in two phases on april 26 and May 7 in Karnataka. Similarly in Andhra telangana elections are going to be held on May 13 in a single phase.
As lok sabha elections are held in South india for a month from april 14 to May 13, the political arena will be busy. So they are reluctant to release new films not only in tamil but also in Malayalam, kannada and telugu languages during this one month period. The release date of the new films has to be decided after May 13. But this year it is summer as the IPL matches will also be held in the same period
