Veteran actor Achyuta Potdar, famous for his memorable role of a strict professor in 3 Idiots, died on Monday, august 18, 2025. He was 91 years old. The actor breathed his last at Jupiter Hospital in Thane. He was admitted to the hospital due to health related issues. The exact cause of his death is not yet known. His last rites will be performed in thane on august 19. At the same time, the death of the veteran actor has caused mourning in Marathi cinema world as well as tv and Bollywood.
Earned name in the world of acting from indian Army
Before making his mark in cinema, Achyuta Potdar was employed in the indian Armed Forces and later he also worked in indian Oil Company. His passion for acting got him entry into films and television in the 1980s and he had a career spanning more than four decades here.

He became a household name by playing the role of a strict but lovable engineering professor in Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster film 3 Idiots. His dialogue 'Kehna kya chahte ho' is very famous on social media, which is still used a lot in social media and memes.
