Choreographer-filmmaker ahmed khan celebrates 30 years since his debut film Rangeela.

He calls the film one of his brightest memories and a career-defining moment.

On its 30th anniversary, Rangeela was re-released in theatres.

Ahmed Khan’s Debut Experience

Ahmed made his debut as a choreographer alongside the late Saroj Khan.

He recalls the experience as fun and unforgettable, describing it as a career-building "first match", where he felt like the man of the match.

At the time, the team wasn’t sure they were creating magic on screen.

He credits ram gopal varma for guidance, saying the film succeeded because of honesty and wholehearted effort.

Musical Highlights

Rangeela featured popular songs:

"Rangeela Re"

"Pyaar Yeh Jaane Kaise"

"Hai Rama"

"Mangta Hai Kya"

"Yaaron sun Lo Zara"

Journey into Filmmaking

After choreographing films like Mudhalvan and Nayak: The Real Hero, ahmed transitioned into directing.

His directorial debut, Lakeer (2004), starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, and john Abraham.

Subsequent films include Fool & Final and the baaghi sequels.

Ahmed, a former child actor in Mr. India, was inspired early by observing directors like Shekhar Kapur, understanding that the director is the one “running the chariot.”

Reflections on Past and Upcoming Films

He feels he has completed the circle as a filmmaker and has more projects to come.

He expressed regret that baaghi 3 (2020) didn’t get a fair run due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upcoming directorial: Welcome to the Jungle (third in the Welcome franchise) starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Describes it as a fun ensemble film with top comedians, confident that it will appeal to audiences.
