Water is constantly being released into the Cauvery from the Kabini and krishna Rajasagar dams in Karnataka. This water crosses the tamil Nadu-Karnataka border and reaches Okkaenakkal. More than 8,000 cubic feet of water is currently flowing into Okkaenakkal. Thus the water gushes out of all the waterfalls, including Main Falls, Five Falls, and Cinnaballs.

Tourists have been eagerly arriving since morning as tourists have been allowed in Okkaenakkal from today after 6 months. They are enjoying the view of the Okkaenakkal Falls and the natural beauty. The water coming from the Okkaenakkal Cauvery comes directly to the Mettur Dam. The water supply to the mettur dam which was 6 thousand 831 cubic feet yesterday morning has increased again to 7 thousand 51 cubic feet today. 7,000 cubic feet of water has been released from the dam into the Cauvery and 800 cubic feet into the canal and water flows through out.

The water level of the dam is declining as more water is being released from the dam than is coming into the dam. The water level of mettur dam, which was 73.58 feet yesterday, fell further today to 73.49 feet.
