Chief minister MK stalin will hold consultations with the health department and medical professionals today morning in the wake of the rising incidence of omicron infections. There are 54 people in maharashtra and 57 in Delhi. In tamil Nadu, the incidence of infections has risen to 26 in Chennai, 4 in Madurai, 2 in Thiruvannamalai, and 34 in Salem.
Omicron prevention activities are already being intensified in tamil Nadu, with inspections being carried out at the airport to further intensify surveillance and immediate isolation and treatment of those with symptoms. In addition, it has been reported that district collectors will be consulted to further tighten controls in areas where the epidemic is more likely to spread.
With the federal government already urging the imposition of a night curfew if necessary, the implementation of the night curfew, as well as the upcoming 25th christmas celebrations, are instructed to prevent large gatherings, banning New Year's celebrations at midnight, and restricting political and social events.
It has been reported that as the pongal festival is more likely to be attended by public businesses, measures to control large crowds, including bans/restrictions on public gatherings such as political demonstrations and protests, are going to be discussed.
